There are a lot of travel blogs out there, some high quality and some low quality. So, why read my blog? Well, first, I love to research. As part of my master’s degree in history, I realized that research is my bag and that I’m very talented at it. My love for history has led me to all sorts of interesting ways of looking at places, as well as a draw towards travel. So, while I am passionate about travel, my travel passion has substance behind it that could be extremely useful for your future travels.
I am not an Instagram model popping up in pretty places to get more likes and the perfect shot. Those pictures are beautiful, and there is nothing wrong with being a beautiful model in a beautiful place, but that is not what I’m trying to achieve, and it is not what you need to read to become a better, smarter traveler. I’m a real person, juggling work, family, and animals.
What you get on this blog is sometimes overly real. When I hike to see a beautiful view, I reach the top sweaty with no makeup and crazy hair. And since I know that will happen, I plan: what are the best clothes to wear for comfort; what are the best shoes that look good and are cheap, that can also comfortably withstand a climb up a mountain path; what kind of bag should I bring so I’m comfortable and have everything I need with me? I have real friends who are also average people who travel to real places (and sometimes will appear on this blog). I have a real budget, real health restrictions, and a real sense of balance between enjoying all parts of my trips while also giving myself time to relax and get away from the stress of real life.
I am not here to curate anyone’s social media. You should read my blog above others if you’re interested in well-researched travel for real, regular people that emphasizes practicality and intellectual exploration.
More About Me
LaurenGlobe (that’s me!) is a teacher and historian who loves to travel! I love dreaming about travel, planning my next travel adventures, and, of course, taking trips. I decided to start this website so that I could have an outlet for all the travel related tips, decisions, and information I discovered while planning my own vacations. When I research online for advice regarding certain travel topics, I am not always able to find what I need, which then means I spend hours trying to find the solution myself. I realized that my knowledge could be a valuable resource for others like you, as well as a creative outlet for my travel musings. I hope to one day help out a fellow traveler by inspiring them to go to new places or consider their travel plans in a different way. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and to join in the discussion as we all figure out how to make our way around our Planet Earth.
For those who are overly interested: I attempt to wrangle 16- and 17-year-olds into deciding that their favorite subject is history, and occasionally I succeed, I have 6 cats and a dog (3 are mine and 3 are strays, the dog is a former streetwalker lab mix), I am married and am blissfully without children, live in the same town I grew up in, and am an information dork. I love learning, which is part of the purpose of this site, and the love of my life is an information specialist, which I find overwhelmingly attractive on many levels.
